Hunh?

What a freakshow that was last night.

It was like the producers just got tired and said "Enh. Just throw everything at them." Auf'd designers, previous season designers, alcohol, team challenge, avant garde. We're assuming they didn't have the budget for the flaming hoops and shark pits.

Don't get us wrong. It was fun to see the previous seasons' designers, even if most of them barely got a couple seconds of screen time. Princess here mugged and shimmied for all she was worth, didn't she? Something tells us that she misses having cameras on her pixie face 24/7.

Big props to Carmen. She looked absolutely gorgeous.

Now. About that judging...

Honeys, we just don't get it.

But before we jump allover Jerell's entry, we have to say we don't get ANY of it. If we were the judges, we wouldn't have been able to pick a winner or a loser (well, maybe Blayne was kinda obvious) because the entries were so mediocre last night and so not what we would call "avant garde."

Moving on...

We're thrilled that Jerell won it because he's the only one of these bitches that seems to be having fun and that is exactly how one should approach a reality competition.

As is that.

As for the dress:

Foregoing the fact that there is nothing remotely avant garde about this design, we think it suffers from some Jerellisms: the pairing of fabrics that really don't go together, the over-layering to the point of sloppiness, and the truly execrable styling.

That jacket is HORRIBLE. Terribly overdone, plus it just doesn't "speak" to the other two fabrics.

We do think the skirt is gorgeous and we love the little flaps on the side.

That jacket was absolutely butt ugly, but when she took it off, the design suddenly became more elegant - although even the two remaining fabrics don't look like they go with each other.

Without that jacket, it's a lovely silhouette. That skirt is a beautiful piece and the whole look rests on it.

See? We like the look just like that. We don't think there's anything avant garde about it, though. Honeys, we're just confused and we're going to need some more coffee to figure the rest of these dresses out.

For what it's worth - CONGRATS JERELL! You're going to Bryant Park! Just please let someone else make the styling decisions for your runway show.

HOLY HANNAH!

He got immunity?!?! I missed that part.

Oh gosh. That whole episode was a wince-inducing disaster.

I hate it when they bring back old designers- it's so insular and ourobouros-y.

Kenley's outfit in particular was INSANE. It looked like a Disneyland mascot version of Phoebe Cates in FAST TIMES AT RIDGEMONT HIGH. It was a joke.

That arrow through the hair conjures up some Steve Martin memories.

I didn't get the show, but dayum!!! Robert Plotkin looked hot. There were dresses???

Ya know, I'm happy for Jarrell. He worked well with Jennifer, seems to get along with most of the designers and has some great moments in his one on ones with the camera. And minus the jacket, the outfit was pretty. Not avant garde, but not really as it is wearable either (at least not for most women).

So hooray for Jarrell!!!

I have to agree/disagree on this one. I don't think Jerrell's look was "avant-garde."

That said, I do think it was gorgeous. Jerrell seems to be about putting clashing textures, colors and patterns together which always make for interesting looks that sometimes work and sometimes don't (I am a fan of the Olympics look had it been for an entirely different challenge).

I like the way Michael Kors describes it (on the blog) as a woman you don't think is even beautiful but then she laughs and you realize she's gorgeous.

Very Funny! Jerrel's dress is sort of Flapper after dark in Alice's Wonderland. Blayne's "conceptual" entry was just bad. I loved Michael Kors laughing at Suede's references to himslef in the third person, that was my favorite moment of the episode.

Yeah, I was voting for either Joe or Korto on this one. Their looks were way more avant garde. While I'm happy for Jerrell, his outfit just made my eyes hurt.

And was Heidi drunk at that "party" or what??

and alex!, no, there was no immunity for this challenge or any challenges hereafter.

No way on the styling!

He's the only one who know how to style for a show.

Tim's Take says he feels one of the reasons Jerrell won is that he really sold the garment & the styling to the other judges. Add the alcohol and voila!

BTW, Jerrell, steal Tia next week. You have GOT to get rid of Nicole.

P.S. I hate hate HATE Jerrell's model! No matter what he designs, she looks dour and she insists on standing with her pelvis thrust out like she suffer from some form of reverse scoliosis. At least he can change models now that he won.

Let me add...

As much as I didn't get/like/understand Jerrell's garment, I'm happy he won one.

The dude has his own style, which is wacky, but it's his, and he works his ass off.

He also see,s like a really nice guy, and that goes a long way. I can imagine that other people would have a blast working with him.

Congrats to Jarrell, altho I really didn't get that checkered material for the skirt; I thought it might have been more beautiful with another fabric.

I also thought Kenly's outfit was more auf-able than Terri's, but I'm betting that the judges gave Terri the FAIL for the "team" aspect of the challenge. Was it just the editing, or was she the Wicked Bitch of the West? And then to say on the runway that Keith bailed on her? It looked like Keith was being kind of sweet, initially trying to help in what he must have recognized was an impossible pairing.

I told my husband, "I'll bet the judges did not get what they expected from that challenge". Weird, wild stuff.

The only reason Jerrel won this one is because it was so dark, the judges couldn't see it for what it was. I just wish someone would tell me what the fresh hell it was. I just don't get it. Fugly just doesn't cover it.

i was so pissed last night at either my cable station or bravo, because the sound was OFF on the entire show. i was so distracted, it was like a bad japanese dubbed movie. anyway i was confused with everyones "avant garde" look. i hold that look to what christian & chris put on the runway last year. confused..............

I was kind of perplexed by this, too. I would never have guessed that this was the winner. I haven't really liked any thing Jerrel's made, actually, but he's so damn likable, I don't want him to go!
I agree he should switch models. That girl is awful. She actually seems to have made her posture into an, "S" shape.

Have to agree with TLo's assessment of the designs in tonight's episode. What a disaster! Really, every single one of them. (check out the full-length photos on Tim's Take). Really hideous stuff. The only one that sparked my interest was Joe's - it looked good on the runway, but in the photo, oh dear. Low-rent salsa boutique, big time!

I fell asleep and missed the last ten minutes .... that about sums up the whole evening! Tim's right, it should have been a two hour show.
All that being said, i think Leanne's dress was great fun and my winner. Take that judges!!

A truly awful episode. So much pointless clutter, and the designs really suffered the worst for it. (Giving the designers the benefit of a doubt here.) How much more interesting it would have been for the remaining eight contestants to have been paired with one another, instead of dragging auf'd designers back to serve as sewers and fabric gatherers? And then bringing back previous contestants? And then having a party at the planetarium? And then not even commenting on the top designs? It was like an orgy scene in gay porn: it never works. No one knows how to edit it properly. You just get a jumble of body parts, brief "reaction" shots, a few verbal volleys, and a whole lot of boring. (Trust me on this one.)
Note to cutey Alex: Jerell didn't get immunity. I think TLo are intimating that all six remaining designers are showing this Friday at BP. Say it isn't so, TLo! Suede?! Suede?!?

Jerell seems like a really great guy, but I just don't get a lot of his designs. I'm surprised this won. I thought I loved the skirt on this one, but thought it should have been paired with an over-the-top jacket in the same material, but then maybe it wouldn't have looked "Sagitarius" enough.

Who the hell knows what they want when they ask them to do avant-garde? It really means is to apply new ideas and techniques. None of them really had time for that. So using old ideas and techniques he did a good job. I think I even like the jacket. The styling is a little out there. I don't know if I agree with the win (because I still didn't see the show) but this is definitely top 3.

This comment has been removed by the author.

Amen honey. That was a whole lotta fugly going on last night. They should have auf'ed at least 3 of them.

===================================

THANK YOU!!! I thought I was talking to myself, here!!!

You are right TLo (of course), this was the 'everything and the kitchen sink' PR episode. That's why I liked it so much! It had every PR staple:

*Past contestants returning to the workroom!
*Even more past contestants returning as judges!
*Avant garde! (Vincent, did it turn you on?)
*A party!
*Workroom bitchery! (Oh Teri!)
*Yappy bottom three-er that won't shaddup! (Shades of "I'm sorry Nina!")
*Double elim!
*Questionable taste all around!
*Pooping fabric!
*Francisco Costa! (why the heck was he there? Calvin Klein doesn't exactly scream 'avant garde' ya know?)

I gotta say, Blayne grew on me, so I was sorry to see him make such a craptastic outfit. The arm and leg looks like bulging flesh and veins. It was gross. I was going to say...sorry to see him go...but really, its "sorry he wasn't better". Because he seemed like a good egg.

Can't wait to hear your views on Kenley's 'insane' Alice in Wonderland Queen of Hearts, nonsense of tulle and patterns fug-ass outfit.

Pat in Georgia

I believe when Blayne was a toddler his mother sat him in front of the TV watching "Full House" episodes too long. It fried his little brain so that all he thinks of is Mary Kate Olsen in a diaper.

I think TLo are intimating that all six remaining designers are showing this Friday at BP. Say it isn't so, TLo! Suede?! Suede?!?

Six? Six?!? That's crazy talk! But while Suede annoyed me (whoever said Michael Kors' making fun of Suede's 3rd person was awesome, you rock!), I was happy to see Terri go. Bitch had a baaaaaaaaaaad attitude.

That whole episode was just a hot mess. Aside from getting a few seconds of Princess Puffysleeves, the entire hour was a big WTF?! And keeping Kenley on?! I was so hoping Nina would just walk up on stage and slap her, if for no other reason than the fact that her voice is like 8-inch nails on a chalkboard being broadcast through a bull horn into a microphone that squeals from the feedback. I'm hitting the mute button the next time that girl opens her mouth.

Was Miss Jerelldine outfit based on the Sagittarius centaur, or the constellation? I suspect the latter.

Or, possibly a citrine? (November birthstone)

Also, what's La Leatha's sign again? I missed it.

Carmen looked absolutely gorgeous!!!

Daniel V., so cute!

And yeah, Robert did look kinda...hot!

Agreed. They threw everything at this challenge - booze, past contestants, auf'd contestants, a trip, shortened time, etc. I was expecting a model switch or a call to wrok blindfolded for the last hour of the challenge.

I was underwhelmed by them all, but I liked Jerrell's look best and thought it deserved the win.

If it's true that all six are showing at Bryant Park, all I can say is WTF? Do they honestly think that showcasing mediocre talent - sadly something that is rampant this season - is going to go over well? I would rather just see three solid runway shows and know who the next three auf-ed designers are in advance.

*pooping fabric*

Didn't Duchess say that about Elisa's turquoise dress last season?

Thank you TLo! I'm glad I'm not the only one who thought the whole show was insane, and that most of the entries were mediocre. And giving Jerell the win? What? I don't get it.

It was great to see my Daniel back, and he worked much better with Joe than he did with Kelli. Helps to be treated with respect. And my other Daniel (V) too! Two Daniels in one show! That was really the best part of the show for me. That and the little gratuituous shot of cute Wesley without his shirt.

Not glad to see Keith back. He and Terri were definitely a match made in hell.

And Stella and Blayne! Ah, the rise and fall of a genius comedy duo . . . I'll miss the little weirdo.

I think the past season designers conspired to pick Jerrell's outfit as a joke.

As for 6 designers showing at Bryant Park, I would ask when oh, when, are the Bravo producers ever going to learn to count? They seem to mis-time the episodes by at least one and often more every season, but I guess it doesn't matter now that the show is going to Lifetime.

No immunity for Jerell, Alex!, but he did get a win.

I liked Miss J's outfit. Even with the crazy jacket. To me, the jacket was sort of a nod to the constellations swirling and whirling above her. And the wacky side panels as an ode to the Hunter's armor were actually kind of cool. But it wasn't avant garde.

I thought Joe or Korto would take this one, but I was wrong and I'm okay with that.

I missed the first 10 minutes of the show (I totally dozed off and almost missed the elimination on Top Design! Hello! Long ass day, anyone?) but I'm glad I didn't sleep through the whole thing. The entire crazy concept of the episode was worth it for the Duchess and NinaGarciaofsomewhereandsomething giggling (not cruelly, just in the most amused way) over Suede's third person-ness. And Heidi's "ooh, that's bad."

Can't wait until you get to all the rest, TLo! I've been waiting hours. (Seems that 15 minute nap really screwed up my sleep schedule)

well this one was certainly entertaining, half naked guy ironing, returning auf'd designers, the most bitchy, tough judging happened last night, bizarre dresses, I loved it!!! I feel sorry for Keith, though.

Sure the episode was overstuffed, but I enjoyed it and I'm starting to enjoy the show again after skipping several episodes (DQ, Green chellange).

I usally hate team chellenges because we half the contestants become helper monkeys who are pretty much granted instant immunity, and I hated the way they brought back Angela and Vincent in season 3, but combining the two idea actually worked out really given all the unnesseccary drama it could have caused.

WOW! what a weird show. i couldn't agree with you guys more - i didn't care for jerrell's (mostly the fabrics - they just didn't work together), but i'm so happy he won one. he's just so adorable...

i was glad to see the 4 designers i would most like to see aufed in the bottom.

the judges were a riot last night -- they must have had quite some party before the runway show. i loved the duchess' comments about suede's 3rd person schtick. and they really let kenley & terri have it, too. i'm not sorry to see terri go -- she was really becoming nasty and treated keith like crap, but i really didn't think her dress (hey, a DRESS!!!) was nearly as bad as kenley's or suede's. nevertheless, i was gleefully singing "Last Pants" -- thanks bill!

kenley's was pure fug - i cringed when she was in mood specifically looking for plaid. then to see it paired with that chiffon-ey stuff she used for the skirt i just had to say WTF?? it was awful, and her arguments with the judges really got on my berves. she should have been the one to go instead of terri. Ah, well - maybe next time.

"If it's true that all six are showing at Bryant Park, all I can say is WTF? Absolutely agree. Less is more. Nothing is going to hurt the rep of the show more (as it moves to boring old Lifetime) than having people like Suede and Joe showing collections at BP.

This season seems to have been all about bizarre fabric choices & combinations. The combination in Jerrell's outfit is seriously making me nauseous.

His silhouette is terrific, but those fabrics! It looks like he trapped and skinned a golfer.

C'est moi, c'est moi Lola

Jerell. *shakes head* Whatever posessed you to use houndstooth for that skirt?!

Jerell may have sold his dress to past contestants like there was no tomorrow, but I still think the PR alums were just f'n with the Elves on this one.

Can't you see Jay saying, "Let's give them the ugliest piece of s-t and see what they do with THIS!" (Within limits, because Sid Licious' was too far gone.)

Carmen did look beautiful, and if she would've been cast one season later, she would've kicked ass all the way to BP. It ws great to see Kara as well.

This episode is a trainwreck on par with the Olympic Challenge. They tried to reproduce the awe of last year's avant garde challenge, and the skill set of the current contestants (except for Korto and Leanne), fell far, far too short. Sissybear was right, his and Christian's avant garde look will not be forgotten, at least until they get a better crop of designers.

Hooray for Jerell, but I can't fathom how much longer he's sticking around without immunity.

If you haven't checked out the exit videos at Bravo by all means do so.
1. Blayne disses Suede's garment, which he felt was way worse than his own. (Truthfully, both should have gone.)
2. Terri gives us some insight into her fall-out with Stella.

"Big props to Carmen. She looked absolutely gorgeous."

She IS absolutely gorgeous.

--GothamTomato

The bit with Kenley and Heidi discussing boobs as Robert drooled was kinda funny.

I thought Jerell won because the judges decided Leanne couldn't win three in a row. I think the woman has this competition in the bag (unless Korto pulls out some insanely good design at Bryant Park, which I think she could), and Magical Elves didn't want to give away the winner quite this early.

And can I just say why is Suede not gone? He's showing at Bryant Park? I'm sick.

Joe's dress was nice, but you could easily tell that two designers made that thing.

Top part - all Joe
Ruffly bottom - all Daniel

But I'm glad that he's still around. Despite, almost biting the bullet last week, I like the guy. He's made pretty decent clothes (up until now), and deserves a BP shot, if only as a decoy.

Welcome back Boyzzz! Can't wait to hear more about who you think shoulda won...you Bryant Park packing bitches!

I also don't think most of them got the idea of Avant Garde. Leann was the closest to understanding the concept and still do something you could look at but it didn't have that wow factor.

I have to admit Jerrel's looked better last night than in the screen captures. I liked the way the skirt moved when she walked. I kind of think he could take that jacket and put it with one of his previous outfits from the season and it would still work with his sensibilities. He seems to have a consistent train of thought.

I wonder how they decided which designers were going to meet them at Rose Planetarium.

BrianB

Kenley's outfit was Little Bo Peep on steriods. Anyone remember "Toy Story?"

LeeAnne was the only one that made something that resembled avante garde, but it wasn't perfect. Joe and Daniel's was my favorite. You could tell Daniel had a lot of influence on this dress and Tim said as much on his blog. I'm happy for Jerell's win but like TLo I hated that jacket with a passion. Korto's was just ok to me. Pretty, but the shape wasn't flattering.

I'm fine with Terri leaving although I wish it was Kenley. Suede's irritating but he seems overall like a sweet guy. Terri may have talent but she acted like such a superior contemptuous bitch. I can't stand the sound of Kenley's voice. What an immature brat.

Did anyone watch After the Sew? Terri intimated (and that's being kind) that Keith sabotaged her outfit.

Not one question about Jerrell's fabric choice, which Tim savaged. Hmmm...

Hmm, Jerrell. I dunno, it didn't blow me away, but I kinda get it. First impression of the piece made me think of the goddess Diana, the archer, huntress, associated with wilderness and animals. I can see how you'd go there from Sagittarius.

Overall, the whole show seemed so rushed. Maybe it was editing, but I thought they had more time to pull off the avant garde pieces last season. And I don't think the purpose of the cocktail party was adequately explained. Was this supposed to be harkening back to the swimsuit challenge in Season 1, where it was important to sell your work in a social setting?

There's an arrow going through her head! Avant garde! Lol, except not. I totally agree, this was a weird, crap-ass challenge with a lot of weird, crap-ass garments. I totally didn't think previous contestants should have picked the winner. Especially when they saw the garments while boozed up in shitty lighting at the AMNH (I have been there many times, and I it's even dimmer than it looked on TV). I wouldn't have picked Jerrell for the win but I didn't really care enough about the challenge to get worked up about it. Blah.

Stella Miss Her (But she was back, so not missing so much)

Wow, the whole show as a shock
-how bad the designs were - Kenley's was absolutly as ridiculous as Blaynes
-how Daniel's Cha Cha dress from the Drag Queen challenge passed muster this time as Joe's creation - and it looked like Daniel was the prime mover in that partnership
-Suede's non elmination
-Teri's elimination, although as the epi proceeded, you could see she was not going to "get it" ever.

Stella Miss Her (But she was back, so not missing so much)

Forgot to add that Blayne's total disregard for anything approaching 'fashion' was disappointing, but not surprising. Good for him to go - come back in five years.

Bitch is delirious. She and Keith deserved one another.

You could tell the top of Joe's was all him because the bodice was disconnected from the skirt. What is Joe's deal with the exposed midriff?

On After the Sew, Andy (that guy bugs the shit out of me) said that next week's episode is VERY DRAMATIC and gave indication that Kenley is particularly involved.

But but but... did I miss something? Last night I don't recall them saying who was actually going to BP.... I thought there was one more challenge?

this episode sucked .. hate ... i'm disapointed.... nothing avant garde.. just tacky design...

On After the Sew, Andy said that all six remaining designers are showing at Bryant Park.

Thanks, TLO. You summed up our confusion. There was way too much going on in this episode.

Old contestants judging the winner at a badly-lit cocktail party? More like a bar-buddy contest. Believe me, I vote Jerrell for the personality-at-a-party contest. Poor Judy Noodles and Korto would be pouting, alone, at the bar.

I was shocked to love Joe's dress so much. I really want to hear your thoughts on that. Could it have been Daniel's "excellent taste" that took over? We haven't seen much of the evening-dress frilly from Joe, but neither had Daniel.

I liked the skirt, hated everything else. It was hard to pick a favorite.

There were some serious misses last night. I'm happy for Jerrell's win but was it avant garde? ere any of the garments avant garde?

Kudos to the judges for smacking down both Terri and Kenley. Kenley has a big mouth and is deluded in her talent, and Terri can't play nice with the other kids.

I think Kenley's dress(?) was laughable and far worse than Terri's. That said, Jerrell would do wll to snap up Xaviera. That girl really worked it for Terri every week!

If Korto is involved, game over. Bitch looks like she dosen't play that shit.

Kenley should have gone over that outfit. In no way could I tell that it represented a zodiac sign. Just dreadful. Further, she's being judged on a garment...she shouldn't be arguing with the judges over their comments. So many of these contestants have just been completely full of themselves.
Blayne was a right choice this time around. Although I think with time and some maturity, he just might make it.
I wish we'd seen Terri's design with the fur color under better lighting. At the same time, glad to see her gone.
Yay! We got to see Stella again, even if it was brief.
"Fragile" Keith--yeah, get over yourself, you're just not as good as you think you are.

Ooops. I meant to type 'Were any of the garments avant garde?'

Duh...

Even if she's gone next week, Bitch Girl will have shown at BP. Not fair at all.

God, Stella looked great last night. And did you SEE the outfit she had on???? AMAZING!!!

Kenley's show: One ugly ass flowery dress after another, with all of the models donning the hair flower, and 50s style makeup. Ugh.

There was some serious ugly on the runway last night!

WOW!!

I don't think ANYONE should have won last night.

You think these designers would take notes from previous seasons on what to do and what not to do. Okay ... that's just me, but seriously ...

thanks to this episode "Pooping fabric" is the newest addition to my 3 yo daughter lexicon.... :-))
she couldn't believe they said that and she was still repeating it this morning... hilarious!!!
and the sweetest thing she said was when the auf'd contestants appeared: "look mommy! Emily is not on vacation anymore!"
boy, she LOVES PR!!!!

"next week's episode is VERY DRAMATIC and gave indication that Kenley is particularly involved."

Oh please please please God, let the bitch get the boot.

So the top 6 are showing at Bryant Park? When is Bravo going to learn how to schedule?

How ignorant was Kenley's response that "she doesn't watch collections". You flippin' idiot.

Apparently, it doesn't matter how wack your design is, if you stand there and argue obnoxiously with Nina, you get to stay. Kenley will show at Bryant Park.

I don't get the Jerrell love, either. He's a nice guy, but his designs leave me scratching my head.

It was fun to see Danny V and Jay again. And next week--Andrae on Top Design. Woot! (although we have to deal with Santino & Jeffrey, too, sigh)

Really terrible show from a production standpoint. Way too much going on with the return of the aufed designers, the past contestants as judges, the poorly lit party, the confusion (to me, anyway) as to how the judging was being done, the twist of the party giving them less time to work on their designs which may have contributed to the ridiculous fug we saw last night. Everything felt rushed, none of the previous contestants and designers got much air-time and apparently none of the designers except for Leanne understands what avant garde means. There was some ridiculous shit on that runway last night, especially for this deep into the show when you would expect the weaker designers to have been weeded out already.

I would have given the win to Leanne but I agree with whoever said that they probably didn't want to give her 3 in a row. I kind of liked Jerrell's look, especially without the jacket, but there was nothing remotely avant garde about it. And that arrow was way too literal and tacky.

I think I finally figured out the judging - the designers picked the winner while the judges chose who would be aufed. But it sure wasn't very clear to me so I may be wrong.

I'll save my remarks about Mean Girl except to hope that that ridiculous bitch gets aufed very, very soon. If I have to listen to that nasal chainsaw of a voice much longer I'm gonna shoot the tv.

If they were going to bring back the auf-ed designers, they should have allowed the one paired with the winner to stay in the competition. As it was, they had no incentive to help, other than out of the goodness of their hearts. Don't you think Keith would have been a lot more invested in Terri's design if he thought it might bring him back? It just didn't make sense to force them to come back when most of them clearly didn't want to be there.

I didn't get Jerell's outfit at all. During the runway show, I thought for sure he would be auf-ed. Shows what I know about fashion.

That's is just STOOPID!

The only thing this ep really accomplished was to showcase the plummet in overall talent level between seasons 4/5.

Was Blayne not the cutest when he got paired up with Stella? "Barbarella!" LOL

Still think that it should ahve gone to either Leanna or Korto, but I like Jerell so I'm cool with it.

Still pissed at the producers eliminating the commentary on the top designs.

Why are people so shocked at Terri's behavior? I mean, yeah, she was bitcherific, I probably would have asked Keith to thread the machine or something for the sake of teamwork. But do you guys remember the crap he sent down the runway? The molting chicken and crazy strips of fabric? I wouldn't have trusted his design aesthetic either! LOL. I am sure the producers were rubbing their hands together with glee on this one...

-HQ

Okay, Kenley is a bitch and annoying. Fine. I agree. But I can't see why, because of this, people prefer to see people like Suede or Joe at BP? Suede?! Suede!!
I'm about as excited to see his show as I would have been if cry-baby Ricky from last season made it to the finale. Kenley is vastly superior, although her best designs were in week one and two.

That was an arrow in her hair ?
An arrow ?

anon 9:14 You almost made me do a spit take on my keyboard.

Talk about a roomful of competitive people, can you imagine the vibe at that party ?

And I gotta agree with ptrap, Gollum/Blayne (Blollum ?) was starting to grow on me. Unfortunately he sure made a disaster of an outfit this week.

Amanda in Austin.

Wait. What? Jerell is going to Bryant Park?!?

Did you just reveal a HUGE spoiler, honeys?!?

Or are you prognosticating?

There was so much bitchery and horomonal drama flowing last night that I thought my poor tv was going to go into menopause when the show was over.

TLo, you've got a heap of a mess to sort through from this episode!! From Kenley and her Jiffy Pop sleeved dress (seriously didn't you just want to take a straight pin and pop those sleeves??) to Blayne and his...and his...and his strangulation of rainbows!!! This episode was just too much...oy, I need a drink just thinking about it.

oh, yeah, the Daniel Drag Cha-Cha dress. I had almost blocked it out!

Oh...and wtf did Kenley send down the runway? Send her home, please!!!

It's a sad day for PR when so many mediocre designers get to show at BP. Did the judges even realize that the choices they made about who to auf were going to determine who got to show and who didn't (decoy or no)? (One would assume so, but there was no mention of it on the show.)
Terri may have two faces and four patterns, but Suede also has two faces (I and Suede), considerably more dead relatives to converse with, and maybe two patterns, one of them BAD.

Still don't understand all of the hype about Leanne's outfit. It was just more noodles.

Terri is a bitch, yes, but I think it's unfortunate not only that she won't get to show at BP – while Suede will – but that she never even won a single challenge, despite making top 3 three times, and deserving top 3 even more than this. Girl has talent, no matter what. Peace out, Terri.

"What a freakshow that was last night."

Man, that was ugly, wasn't it? Not just the everything-but-the-kitchen-sink challenge, but the fighting, the biting and scratching, the whining, the sniping, pouting, the scowling and growling. That was freaking painful.

Nice to see Robert Plotkin, though, who I fondly remember as one of the more fun-loving contestants ever.

If all 6 designers are showing at BP, is it possible one or two of them are decoys?

As for Jerrell's design, it was the least bad. I think he won because of the skirt, which was gorgeous. I hated that baggy, ill-fitting top that seemed to be just stuffed into the skirt, and really couldn't see enough of the jacket to judge it --very annoying.

I also think his design looked something like the most recent Marc Jacobs collection!

Seeing Vincent last night: **shudder**. Creepiest PR contest ever.

The "The producers need to learn how to count! There are SIX contstans left!@!$#@$" comments are so annoying. Do you people even have a clue as to how TV shows are made?

Anyway, this season was thrown together at break-neck speed, last-minute after they announced Lifetime was taking over the show (at that point, for a November debut). Bravo wanted to squeeze out the last season before that. It had barely finished filming before it started airing on TV. They obviously knew there woule be issues, hence the double elimination. "Omg! This season isn't exactly like all the others! The prodcuers of a multi-million dollar reality franchise don't know how to count!" I don't think I can even roll my eyes exaggeratedly enough.

I've got to be honest. I didn't like Jarrells outfit at all. Not to say it was near as bad as Blaine's, but it wasn't avant-garde and to me, it wasn't even pretty. None of the fabrics worked together and I saw nothing of the sign in the work. Now, I adore Jarrell and think he is genuinely kind and down-to-earth, but that outfit? Pure fug!!

Anon.said, "Seeing Vincent last night: *shudder*. Creepiest PR contest ever."

Was Vincent there???

Anyway . . . Jerell's win was a shocker. I thought it was horrible. But does anyone understand why SIX designers are showing at BP? Is it simply a matter of schedule, as in when they scheduled the show to air and how that intersects with Fashion Week?

Actually,

I liked Jerrell's and was very pleased he won (and he's been one of the few family favorites--including Stella).

The reason I liked it so much is that I'm a Sag and I totally saw Sagittarius all over that thing (and NOT the arrow through the hair...that was obvious). But the coloring was spot on for a Sag. So, believe it or not, was that funky layering on the jacket. It was too much, but it also spoke "Sag."

I can't speak to the avante garde stuff. I know what it is in the academic world, but have no clue what it should look like in fashion (except that it shouldn't look like Kenley's).

Congratulations Jerrell!!!!!

Maybe the designers and judges were instructed to pick the winner by horoscope. And the party was a screen. Which would explain the poor lighting and perplexing results.

I'm happy for Jerell. He's the only person that I haven't been annoyed with throughout the series.

Is anyone else COMPLETELY over kenley? Her attitude is revolting, not to mention whatever design she put on the runway.

TLo, I beg you to ask Jay if he and his fellow judges were screwing the Elves over with their choice. Even if he's not willing to say it, maybe he'll at least give you a signal like a tug on the ear or a wink.

Because there is just no other explanation. I thought both Leanne and Joe's outfits were much better. But nobody's outfits would have made it out of the bottom half in last cycle's avant garde challenge.

Terri's behavior was such a disappointment but for that much animosity to exist right from the start, I have to wonder at what we don't know. Clearly there was more to that hate-fest than we got to see, and you can't convince me it was all Terri's fault.

I watched terri's exit interview. Her critique of why she and Stella broke off seems crazy. And she seems to be a terrible diplomat, but she was one of the seasons strongest designers and deserved to show at Bryant Park before Joe or Suede.

Karma bit Terri in the ass. And I for one am not sorry, talent or no talent.

You treat people like shit, and it will come back to haunt you.

hq said ... But do you guys remember the crap he (Keith) sent down the runway? The molting chicken and crazy strips of fabric? I wouldn't have trusted his design aesthetic either!

That was a classic PR "make it work" moment. Paired with someone you hate? Suck it up, be a professional, and find a way to work together. Don't muscle that person out of the way and then claim on the runway that your partner abandoned you. Not cool.

As for Jerell: Clearly a victory of schmooze over style. Bitch can work a room and an outfit. And next week, he should snatch up Xaviera in a heartbeat!

I've been done since the "heheheheheee, just ignore me" stunt she pulled on Daniel.

I never thought anyone could equal the likes of Santino and Jeffrey in terms of obnoxiousness, but it looks like we have a winner.

I couldn't understand why Jerrell won either - that decision was met with stunned silence at our house.....

Terri was HORRID last night. I just don't get it. I'm glad she got auf'd. She was just over the top and none of it was necessary.

I didn't think any of the designs were avant garde either. They all either looked insane or been-there-done-that.

Kenley was majorly annoying. She is just so stuck up and arrogant, I can NOT wait to see her crash and burn. Also, her reactions to Blayne and Terri going home were completely fake.

Like many others, I'm mystified by the choice of Jerrell as winner, but there it is. justification? Did they really let the past designers from the show pick the winner? No judges, no magical Elves influence?

So many awful dresses, so little time. That Kenley wasn't auf'ed was particularly gruesome. However, it looked well put-together even if horrific choices were made.

I'm thinking that perhaps it was done this way so that all of the remaining 6 have won a challenge? Haven't thought this through completely. If so, I call b*llsh*t. It's like the freaking NFL playoffs, half the teams go!

Ever so slightly off-topic, but I can't wait to hear what you guys have to say about the Terri/Keith blowup and judge's panel argument with same.

also - I don't think Jerrell got immunity for this win.

She was dead to me after she laughed at Daniel on the runway. She's a joke.

WORST.EPISODE.EVER.

1. I'm SICK of how the middle of PR always hits during Fashion Week. I'm OVER the RUSE of two designers crying over not going to BP when somehow, like MAGIC! they end up there anyway.

2. Why bring back the auf-ed designers??? There were eight designers left. Pair 'em up and we would have had four looks...which brings me to my biggest beefs...

3. The cocktail party was a big old waste of time. The 'mood' lighting made it impossible to see the detail on the garments and the designers didn't have enough time to take the feedback in and make meaningful changes to their outfit--save Terri and hers needed a lot of help.

4. I'm tired of lightning speed edits on the runway show. I want to see the outfits in all directions. More lights, please!

5. WHERE WAS THE DISCUSSION ON THE WINNER???? Had there been just four looks, we would have had PLENTY of time to discuss both the winner and the loser. I believe this may be the first PR competition to not feature judging deliberations on the winner.

This episode was a travesty. Worst ever.

This wasn't the worst decision ever caused by alcohol and bad lighting but it's up there. Diane and Fern would never have let this happen. I'm pleased Jerell won something, but it should have been the Brooke Shields challenge, not this one.

I loved, loved, loved Leanne's and thought Daniel's (ummm . . . Joe's) was second place. Jerrell would have not been in my top 3.

And, T Lo, you're right about the kitchen sink aspect of this episode. It was like the finale to a fireworks show where they throw everything up there to see what pops.

First impression of the piece made me think of the goddess Diana, the archer, huntress, associated with wilderness and animals.

That was my take, too. The tweed fabric immediately called to mind a hunter, and the glittery gold fabric and headpiece mimicked the sparkle of stars.

I thought Jerrell's ensemble was just beautiful. I didn't care overmuch for the jacket, but I found the juxtaposition of the fabulous tweed skirt and the sparkly top very aesthetically pleasing. And the silhouette of the two pieces was stunning.

Geoff said... Regarding Terri and Keith: That was a classic PR "make it work" moment. Paired with someone you hate? Suck it up, be a professional

You hit the nail on the head - she was completely unprofessional. I felt for Keith - he was already in a vulnerable state and Terri made it worse for him when it was totally unnecessary. "Counting the pins on the floor" is one of the most harsh things I've ever heard anyone say in a working situation. Shame on her. She's a backhanded bitch.

No, Vincent was not there. Remember Heidi said "some of her FAVORITE designers".

Ugh nobody did Avant Garde last night except for maybe Leanne. I do think the judges gave Jerrell the win because they see potential. I know you bitches love that fact that he made a pseudo hat ahahaha that arrow in the hair was Classic!

Why the fuck hasn't Kenley went home, that clown outfit she put on the runway, and bad attitude/back talk hasn't sent her home yet....somethings fishy

Honestly, I would kill for that skirt.

Jerrell's got a place at BP for sure.
Yes!

This was a disappointing showing for the challenge that really promotes fashion as a statement and art. I thought cutting the time on producing the outfits was a contributing factor. Also, the designer seem to be some of Lee Ann's winning designes, the embellishment at the hips (Jerrell) and loopy sleeves (Korto) and doing it well. I thought Lee Ann was the win here but even she was subdued for avant garde/haute couture. Jerrell really works with his models body beautifully but he's prone to cliche'-ism (arrow in the head). The opposite of avant garde is cliche'.

Loved Jerrell's and Joe's dresses. Kenley should have been auffed! That thing she made looked like a Gaultier-inspired version of the “No Rain” bee girl outfit. Plus her voice is like a mallard duck w/a hangover. She throws such an edge into me. Oy!

to understand a little bit about the choice of winner, please read The Duchess blog today, it's pretty interesting. I agree with his analysis of why Jerell's outfit was the winner. I can see where they are coming from.

Avant-garde, most of these weren't. It seemed like they didn't want to give Leanne a third win in a row, 'cause from my perspective, hers was most clearly avant-garde and most clearly the winner.

Yeah. Last night was surreal.

Am I also the only one who still doesn't mind Kenley? I actually kind of didn't mind her outfit last night. Granted, it looked... kind of scary maybe. But I think she took two really crazy-ass patterns and put them together in an interesting way.

I don't know - all the bitchiness seems to be coming from the point that she's got to be exhausted, along with everyone else. Though, her comment about not "looking at collections" came off... not well.

Hmm. Backhanded compliment alert! Still - she makes for great TV if nothing else.

Did the producers call everyone the night before to see who was available for drinks? Otherwise I cannot figure out what they were going for?

I'd like to encourage Kenley to go into a closed room with Christian, and Jeffrey. Add a few beverages of choice.
And see which who begs for mercy first.
Call it Ego Death Match.

Then Stella goes in and tells them about life.

Will someone please explain to me how anyone can judge a design after seeing it in a room with the kind of lighting at the Museum? Utterly ridiculous.

Jerrell's skirt is great, both design and construction. The top's a throwaway. As for the jacket, can we get close-ups, please, TLo?

Overall, Jerrell's is kind of the same silhouette we saw for the Olympic challenge but at least his go-to shape is something that's interesting. And it's every bit as wearable by the thinnish-but-not-model-thin as Leanne's shapes.

And yay for Jerrell for playing well with others.

bitchybitchybitchy

As much as I love Jerrell, I was floored that he got the win last night-but as you two noted, there weren't any really fabulous designs in this challenge.

Did he think that taking two wildly opposite fabrics was in itself avant-garde, do you think?

I wait with baited breath for TLo's take on Kenley's latest....

Is it really possible to make anything truly "avant-garde" anymore? I say no. I think they were just trying to get the designers to push themselves. The zodiac, though, that is an interesting enough concept for a challenge.

I loved Jerell's.

I thought it was quite a subtle take on the Sag theme. She was a huntress - swathed in the greens and golds of the forest - who's just swung off her horse and stuck an arrow in her mussed up hair, the way some people stick pens...

The way the skirt moved was sublime and I loved the pairing of tweed and sequins, edgy and glamorous at the same time.

And it was interesting. La Duchesse is spot on in her blog, about it making you want to look twice...I really want to see close ups of the jacket. The remark about it using all sorts of whacky trims, but still coming across as 'subtle' was intriguing. And I liked the way it looks like she's wearing a long sleeved sequined top until she takes the jacket off.

I hope Jerell is going to BP as a contender. I love his sophisticated use of colour and texture and his silhouettes are often sublime...

I need more coffee, too (it's only 11:00 west coast time!) But I don't get it, either. These designers seem to think avant garde means mismatched fabric! Hah! And what's with Nicole's crooked halo - how is that symbolic of Sagittarius?

I like Jerell, but thought Leeanne was robbed! Cheri

ALEX! No immunity from now on.

Oh and was anyone else intrigued that there were lots of creative Aquarius, Saggitarius, Scorpios and Libras knocking around, and not a single pragmatic earth sign?

Joe's outfit was hideous. I can't believe he was in the top 4. It was neither avant-garde, wearable or chic. Just an explosion of cheap.

Terrible episode. Terrible theme, terrible idea hosting an "astrology" event at a PLANETARIUM (devoted to the destruction of astrological thinking), terrible judging confusion (did they really judge at the party, or what?), terrible pacing, and worst of all, terrible outfits, all of them.

This was the worst episode of the season by far. It's shows like this that make me think P:R only ever gets anything right by accident.

I think Leanne got robbed by time, not the judges. Did you notice how much her garment had sagged by the time it hit the runway? It was sharp and alive at the party; on the runway it was flat and slumpy. That party was a terrible idea.

You're kidding, right? Sophisticated use of color?

HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA.

Freakshow is right, but I am glad Jerell won. How about Tim being right again, saying in the workroom that Jerell's design will either clinch the win or crash and burn? Go Tim!

What a bummer, I wanted to see more of the old designers.

she couldn't believe they said that and she was still repeating it this morning... hilarious!!!
and the sweetest thing she said was when the auf'd contestants appeared: "look mommy! Emily is not on vacation anymore!"
boy, she LOVES PR!!!!

Brava, mommyca...love that your little girl is a PR fashionista in training!

One thing about Jerrell -- he won't bore us at Bryant Park. (please please please don't play it safe there!)

I thought this was right for the win and I'm believing they didn't show more of the four winners 'cause they were all basically lame. Yes, even Leann's was too too for words.

It would really help Jerrell to have a design partner like Jennifer to work with after the show. Somebody understated, smart and kind.

PS - What does Jay dish about the evening?

"because the entries were so mediocre last night and so not what we would call "avant garde.""

You summed up the entire season and designers in one simple phrase or really one word, Mediocre.

My favorate part of the whole debacle was when the Duchness knocked Suede for talking about himself in third person. The only thing that would have been better is if the other contestents were around at the time to loudly concur. Hopefully someone will pull an intervention soon and teach Suede to use first person pronouns.

Jerell is another designer who manipulates fabric without regard for what is complimentary to a woman's body. Aside from Chloe, all of the other winners design "designs" not clothing that would work or compliment women. Therefore, Jerell will win this season.

Congrats, Jerell. I don't get the win either, but I like the man, so I'm happy for him.

And congrats to Alex, for the term "ourobouros-y". You took one of my favorite words and "y-ed" it. Nice.

Back to Jerell -- I agree with TLo on all of it. The skirt was lovely, and I wanted it. The little gold top wasn't what I would have paired with the skirt, but I think it worked. The jacket? Well, coming from Jerell and Jennifer, it didn't surprise me. Our judges would not have given this the win. Nope, no way, uh-uh.

Carmen looked AMAZING, didn't she? Wow.

I have mixed feelings about Jerrell going to BP. On one hand, it'll definitely be a show to remember, but on the other, a BP runway show will give him free reign to fly his ever lovin' freak fabric flag. I like Jerrell, but I don't alwys "get it" --- his styling choices, pairings of garments and color combinations. However, I also kind of dig that about him and like the fact that I don't always know what the heck he's trying to express or where he's going with certain looks.

ITA: TLo's opinion on Jerrell's skirt. Looooved it. Fab.u.lous. & Stun.ning. Very sexy suffragette meets Vivienne Westwood.

Eddie, I feel your pain. I too have mixed feelings over our dear Jerrel. It remains to be seen which side of my brain is going to win this argument.

XO,
Pats

My mother (visit her at juanatortilla.blogspot.com) and I cackled with glee when we saw that the current designers would be paired with auf'd designers. I believe I exclaimed, "Well, this is just good clean fun!"

Then the show went off the rails.

Most of all, I missed having an opportunity to hear The Duchess, Frau Klum, and Nina -- and Francisco Costa, whose withering comments I love -- compare notes on the looks they liked.

I wanted to complain loudly to someone. But who? Bravo? Why would they care anymore now that the show is sold? Tim? It wasn't his fault! The Magical Elves? See 'Bravo?' above.

I cannot take seriously any judging that occurred in an environment with such poor and variegated lighting as that planetarium.

Livid. Just livid.

I heart Jarrell! I'm glad he won, but I don't get it either. I thought when Daniel was commenting on the 8 different trims at the elbow, he was going to say that it was too much, but instead he said "very subtle". What?! Maybe that was some bad editing or something, but it was puzzling. Jarrell is definitely the most likable and adorable now that Stella is gone, and since he did get robbed of the lipstick jungle win, I'm glad he got this!

I hate Kenley more and more each week, she thinks she knows more than the judges and I just think that is disrespectful. I mean she can think whatever she wants, but to argue and interrupt like that is just rude. She doesn't even hear the comments.

I too, did not get any of the other outfits, except for maybe Korto's, but even that one was too literal....
